However, small companies may have characteristics of large ones and vise versa depending on the makeup of the present cash and treasury management system. Obviously, mid-size companies may fall in either category. Category I - Small companies You will not have dedicated treasury professionals on staff, you will perform little or no cash planning and you will only have a simple cash and treasury management system (perhaps nothing more than a single bank account) in place. As you grow and expand, your company’s cash needs require a more sophisticated cash and treasury management system along with competent advice from treasury professionals. Hopefully you are profitable, but need to manage cash more efficiently, as there are internal pressures to have funds available for expansion purposes. Cash is needed immediately for such things as the purchase of equipment or other assets, the hiring of additional employees or the undertaking of a new marketing effort. However, it may take several months or longer before results of this expansion are realized in the form of higher revenue and eventually incoming cash. Therefore, a better system is necessary that will improve cash forecasting and also conserve cash as much as possible. Our staff will provide the expertise that is not available from within to design the proper system that will meet your needs. We will also train in-house personnel to run the new system and to perform the cash management duties that will be instituted as a result of our work. Category II – Large companies You will most likely have a fairly complete cash and treasury management system already in place. However, we can perform an independent and objective review of your present system. You should therefore feel free to contact us either on a routine basis or because of internal or external factors such as changing business conditions or a downsizing.
