Allen
Bomes is the founder and principal of Bayberry Associates. He
has a diverse background in cash and treasury management both
as a corporate practitioner and as a consultant. He has been
involved in the publication of several professional articles.
Examples include co-authoring an article on cash forecasting
published in The Journal of Cash Flow Forecasting and being
extensively quoted in a TreasuryPoint.com article "Cash
Flow Makes the World Go Round:A Global Operations
Challenge". He has also tought review courses sponsored
by The Treasury Management Association of New York for the
Certified Cash Manager’s exam and has held various duties in
corporate finance and accounting.
Allen Bomes' approach to consulting derives from his career in
the Treasury Department of ABC (formerly Capital Cities
Communications) where he was the only individual handling the
day-to-day treasury activities. This was unusual in a company
with revenues exceeding $6 billion and short-term cash of over
$2 billion at the time of its purchase by The Walt Disney
Company. Therefore, he understands the importance of designing
and implementing cash and treasury management systems that are
extremely practical and efficient and can be easily handled on
a day-to-day basis by a very small staff (including
part-timers who have responsibilities other than in the
treasury area) while maintaining adequate internal controls.
It is very common these days to work with companies that have
minimal support staffs in their efforts to keep overhead to a
minimum. He is also aware that a good cash and treasury
management system must be designed to be flexible enough to
accommodate a company as it grows (Capital Cities/ABC grew by
1,500% during his stint there handling the treasury
activities). Finally, despite its size, Capital Cities/ABC
always had an entrepreneurial spirit that has become part of
his approach to consulting.
He has a Bachelors of Science Degree from The University of
Michigan and a Masters of Business Administration Degree in
Accounting from Bryant College. He is a Certified Cash Manager
administered by the Association for Financial Professionals
(formerly the Treasury Management Association).
